Early Voting at Texas State University

5,700 more voters voted in first three days than the first three days of the 2016 general election

** Update 10/26/2018 **

Hays County Commissioners voted today to reopen the polling location at the LBJ Student Center next week on November 1st and November 2nd from 7 AM to 7 PM. Additionally, an Election Day voting site will be added onsite at the University and it will be open from 7 AM to 7 PM as are other polling locations on Election Day. The Election Day polling site will be for Precinct 334.

** The information below has been updated **

Although the Hays County Democratic Party is disappointed that the Texas State early voting dates and times have not been extended by the Hays County Commissioners, we will continue to encourage early voting at other Hays County sites for students who have not yet had the opportunity to vote in the three days allotted at the LBJ Student Center. We appreciate the outreach of all who are offering rides to accommodate students with mobility and transportation issues so that voting may be accessed. The Hays County Commissioners Court has issued a press release that can be found here: Hays County Press Release_Election.Report.Week.1

The press release mentions this specific information about rides to the polling locations:

Free rides to the polls

At the request of Hays County and the City of San Marcos, Capital Area Rural Transportation System (“CARTS”) is providing free bus service to and from polling places during early voting and on Election Day.  People riding CARTS to their polling place are asked to tell the driver that they are going to the polls and will have their bus fares waived.

In addition, CARTS offers free rides to Texas State University students at any time, with presentation of a student ID.

For more information on free rides to the polls, call CARTS at 512.478.RIDE (7433) or visit www.RideCARTS.com.
