Take action: Help Hays Latinos United with community needs

By Mark Trahan
Over the weeks to come, the Hays County Democratic Party will be promoting opportunities for service and outreach in our low income communities, particularly on the east side of I-35.  We are coordinating these efforts with various groups, and would like to request your participation in volunteering to assist our communities in need.  There are still homes on the east side of I-35 with broken pipes that have not been replaced, challenges with food insecurity, and families in need of information about vaccine accessibility.
One opportunity to serve is by volunteering with Hays Latinos United, an organization founded and operated by Michele Cohen, a Democratic precinct chair on the east side of Kyle, TX.
Ms. Cohen is looking for assistance with moving water and food, along with assisting with a distribution of PPE.  Ms. Cohen provided the following information:

Hays Latinos United Volunteer Sign-up for Saturday, April 10th, 2021 at Chapa Middle School.

Hello Volunteers! I am starting my volunteer engagement opportunities early for this event. Saturday, April 10th, 2021 from 8:00 to 1:00 HLU will need volunteers. The actual event will take place from 9:00AM to Noon. We ask volunteers to arrive at 8:00 to help prepare the setup and assemble the PPE kits for distribution. Some heavy lifting may be required. We will provide masks, gloves, water, and snacks to all volunteers. I hope you can participate in what will be an awesome event. Stay tuned for more details to come.
