Texas Democrats Announce Second Round of Project LIFT Recognized Candidates For May Elections

AUSTIN, Texas — Today, the Texas Democratic Party is announcing the next round of candidates recognized through our Project LIFT (Local Investment in the Future of Texas) program for the May 1st elections, in addition to the 11 candidates previously announced.

Texas Democrats’ Project LIFT is designed to provide recognition and additional support for municipal candidates who identify as Democrats. While municipal offices are non-partisan, Democrats are investing in electing local leaders who are champions for Texas communities — candidates who will govern in a way that promotes Democratic values today and will be our rising stars of tomorrow.

Our slate of newly announced Project LIFT candidates includes:

  • Oluatobi ‘Tobi’ Adeyinka, Pearland ISD Board Trustee Position Three

  • Penny Mallet, Lewisville City Council Place 3

  • Tika Paudel, Euless City Council, Place 6

  • Page Rander, Clear Creek ISD, District 4

  • Michele Rutherford, Smithville ISD school board trustee, Place 3

  • Tina Steiner, Round Rock City Council Place 5

  • Nacole Thompson, Leander City Council Place 4

  • Esmeralda Traube, Leander City Council Place 2

These candidates join 11 previously announced 2021 Project LIFT candidates, including:
