Texas Democrats Celebrate Independence Day
AUSTIN, Texas — Texas Democratic Party Chair Gilberto Hinojosa issued the following statement celebrating Independence Day:
“Happy Independence Day! Today, Texans and people across the country celebrate the ideals at the heart of our country’s promise — like freedom, democracy, equality, and justice. As we honor the bold vision at the core of our country’s founding, we continue to fight to bring that vision to life, and to make sure everyone in our country can share in those ideals.
“This 4th of July, Texans have so much to celebrate. Thanks to President Biden and Vice President Harris, our country is back on track. The Biden-Harris administration has led the most successful, aggressive vaccination campaign in history and put money back in the pockets of families across our country. Because of their leadership, millions of families today are able to celebrate in person together, without fear for the safety of loved ones.
“Last week, we broke records for jobs numbers, with more than three million new jobs created for Americans since President Biden took office — the most created in the first five months of any presidency in history. Our economy is growing faster than it has in 40 years. We’re not only getting back to normal — we’re making strides toward an America that is stronger and more inclusive than ever.
“As we continue to fight for a better America for all of us, we need to not only make sure everyone can share in our country’s progress — we also need to continue to protect the core of our democracy: our right to vote. There’s no “we the people” without voting rights. In the face of rising attacks, Democrats will keep pushing to defend our constitutional right to vote, and fighting to make sure every American voter can make their voice heard.
“On behalf of Texas Democrats, I wish families across our country a safe and happy Independence Day.”
