Tina Clinton, Court of Criminal Appeals, Place 4

Judge Tina Clinton presides over Texas Criminal District Court 1, which has jurisdiction in Dallas County. This is a felony criminal court. She was elected to this position in 2018 after serving for eight years as Judge of Dallas County Criminal Court 8. Judge Clinton is known for fairness and efficiency. During her time in County Criminal Court, she reduced the court’s backlogged docket by 50 percent. For the 2020 election cycle, Judge Clinton is running for the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, Place 4.

Clinton has substantial bench experience and the reputation within the legal community of running an efficient, fair and decorous courtroom. She too has served both in the Dallas County district attorney’s office as well as practicing criminal law. Additionally, she has been deeply involved in both community and criminal justice issues. Clinton recently served a three-year term as presiding judge for all the misdemeanor courts.

Judge Clinton has deep and diverse legal experience. As a defense lawyer, prosecutor and judge, she has conducted more than 400 criminal trials. She was elected to the Board of the Texas Center for the Judiciary by her judicial peers. She has taught criminal law throughout the United States, and testified before the U.S. Senate Subcommittee on Criminal Justice and the U.S. House Committee on Probation and Parole.
